Edmund F. Murphy III

President and CEO Empower Retirement and Great-West Financial

Ed Murphy joined Great-West Financial® in 2014 as president of its retirement business. He provides leadership and strategic direction for Empower Retirement’s 5,000 associates. He directs all defined contribution, defined benefit, institutional and IRA markets. He also oversees all sales, marketing and global operations.

Murphy brings 30 years of broad industry experience to his role. Before becoming head of Empower, he had served as managing director of the defined contribution and investment only business at Putnam Investments since 2009. He joined the firm’s operating committee in 2011.

Previously, Murphy held executive leadership roles for 17 years at Fidelity Investments in its institutional, private equity and retail businesses. He also served as president and CEO of Veritude, LLC, as well as a board member of BostonCoach, Advisor Technology Services, Seaport Hotel, World Trade Center and several other Fidelity-owned businesses. Earlier, he spent six years with Merrill Lynch.

Murphy has written articles on retirement-related matters and has testified in Washington, D.C., before the House Committee on Ways and Means. He also has testified before the Department of Labor, the Treasury Department and the IRS. He speaks on topics ranging from investment advice to lifetime income solutions for retirees.

Murphy is a board member of the Employee Benefit Research Institute, Cristo Rey School, Boston College Wall Street Council and the New England Council. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Boston College. Murphy also is a graduate of the General Manager Program at Harvard Business School.

Robert K. Shaw

President, Individual Markets

Bob Shaw is president of Individual Markets, a position he’s held since 2015. Shaw directs the company’s Individual Markets Division, which focuses on providing retirement income and life insurance solutions to clients across the country. Shaw has been with the Great-West Family of Companies since 1977, when he began his career in Winnipeg, Canada. He’s held various leadership roles in the company’s healthcare, retirement and individual markets businesses.

Shaw holds a bachelor’s degree with honors in commerce from the University of Manitoba. He is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries. Shaw is active with the Denver metropolitan affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, for which he served on the board of directors for six years. He’s also active with several other charities in the Denver area.

Scott C. Sipple

President, Great-West Investments

Scott Sipple joined Great-West Financial® in 2017 as president of its Great-West Investments business. He is responsible for Great-West Funds and Advised Assets Group, LLC, which create and deliver the company’s mutual fund, separate account and managed account offerings. Sipple also leads the general account, stable value and retirement income solutions Great-West Financial sells into the retirement market.

Sipple has over three decades of asset management experience on both the buy and sell sides, including eight years at Putnam Investments — most recently as head of global investment strategies. His responsibilities over the years have ranged from capital markets and trading to global portfolio strategy, product management, managed accounts, institutional banks and strategic relationships. Sipple holds a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College.

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Andra Bolotin joined Great-West Financial® in 2015 as senior vice president and chief financial officer. In 2016 she was appointed executive vice president and chief financial officer of both Great-West Financial and its indirect parent company, Great-West Lifeco U.S. LLC.

At Great-West Financial, Bolotin leads 230 associates whose roles include financial analysis, reporting, risk and control, as well as actuarial and tax. She also helps set strategic direction. In her Great-West Lifeco U.S. role, she oversees capital structure, control and tax planning, as well as the corporate accounting and tax teams at affiliate Putnam Investments.

Bolotin has been with the Great-West Family of Companies since 2008, when she joined the finance leadership team at Putnam. She served as head of corporate finance and controller and as co-head of the Putnam Enterprise Risk Committee.

Before joining Putnam, Bolotin was senior vice president and chief financial officer of the developing business group at Fidelity Investments. She also served as CFO of Fidelity HR Services and senior vice president of corporate finance. Previously she was vice president and treasurer at Polaroid and an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company.

Bolotin, who holds a degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, started her career as a chemical engineer at IBM. She holds an MBA in finance and operations from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Jack E. Brown

Senior Vice President and Lead Portfolio Manager

Jack Brown joined Great-West Financial® in October 2015. He is senior vice president and portfolio manager for all separate account portfolios, which total $11 billion in assets under management. Brown also serves as the portfolio manager of the general account.

Prior to joining Great-West Financial, Brown spent 20 years at OppenheimerFunds, Inc. in various investment roles. Since 2011, he served as vice president and co-portfolio manager of the Oppenheimer Global Strategic Income Fund and the Oppenheimer Global High Yield Fund. He also was a portfolio manager on the Oppenheimer senior floating rate team. Brown’s primary responsibility throughout his career has been investing and managing portfolios within the fixed income markets.

Brown has a bachelor’s in business administration with an emphasis in finance from the Metropolitan State University and an MBA from the University of Colorado. He earned his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2003.

Stephen E. Jenks

Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer

Steve Jenks oversees the marketing for Great-West Financial® and Empower Retirement.

Previously, Jenks served as head of defined contribution product and marketing for Putnam Investments, where he helped shape and execute growth strategies for the organization's defined contribution, investment-only and rollover businesses. He joined Great-West Financial in 2014.

Jenks began his investment industry career in 1990 with Fifth Third Bank. From there, he held leadership roles in marketing, product, finance and relationship management at Fidelity Investments from 1992 to 2009. He also co-founded Acceleration Retirement, a marketing analytics and outsourcing firm, and Stable Two Financial, a registered investment advisory company. He served as CEO of both companies.

Jenks holds a bachelor’s degree with distinction in business analysis from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. He is currently on the boards of the American Red Cross, Mile High Area and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado.

Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer

Jeff Knight joined Great-West Financial® in 2012 and was appointed senior vice president and chief technology officer in 2014. He oversees the systems areas associated with retirement services, individual markets, investments and other corporate areas, including management of the company’s retirement plan recordkeeping platform.

In his previous roles at Great-West Financial, Knight led teams responsible for multiple aspects of the company’s recordkeeping system, including application systems architecture, business intelligence and data services, production support, statements, document production, and software configuration management.

Before joining the firm, Knight was chief information officer at IAS. He also held senior management positions at Fortune 500 companies such as Capital Cities/ABC, International Thomson and Fiserv, as well as at privately held firms. His management roles included retirement recordkeeping systems, back office operations and business line leadership.

Knight earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas.

Senior Vice President, Product Management

Dave McLeod joined the Great-West Family of Companies in 1985 and was appointed senior vice president, product management, of Great-West Financial® in 2012. He is responsible for product development efforts across the company’s retirement administration, annuity and insurance and capital preservation solutions.

Previously, he held several leadership positions with Great-West Financial and affiliated companies, including vice president, investment operations, and controller/treasurer of Great-West Funds.

A business graduate of the University of Manitoba, McLeod holds FINRA series 6, 26 and 65 registrations and a Certified Management Accountant designation.

Chief Human Resources Officer

Suzanne Sanchez joined Great-West Financial® in 2005 and was named chief human resources officer in 2011. Sanchez is responsible for all human resources functions. In her role, she leads the company’s efforts to attract, engage and retain top talent in support of the company’s long-term strategic roadmap. This includes providing attractive benefits, competitive compensation and leading-edge training. She is a member of the Great-West executive team and sits on the company’s diversity and inclusion counsel.

Prior to her current role, Sanchez was the assistant vice president of talent management and corporate social responsibility. She spent her earliest years at the firm in talent acquisition roles.

Sanchez is passionate about giving back to the community and sits on the board of Denver CASA. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado and is a certified senior human resources professional.

Richard G. Schultz

General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer

Richard Schultz has been in-house counsel with the Great-West Family of Companies since 1986. As the general counsel and chief legal officer for Great-West Financial® , he is responsible for all legal and regulatory matters involving the company. He also serves as the company’s corporate secretary. In addition, Schultz serves as senior vice president and general counsel of Great-West Life & Annuity Insurance Company for Great-West Lifeco Inc.

After serving as assistant counsel for The Great-West Life Assurance Company in Winnipeg, Canada, Schultz joined Great-West Financial in 1995. Previously, he was an associate at the Winnipeg law firm Taylor McCaffrey.

Schultz received his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School, Toronto, and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg. He is licensed to practice law in Colorado and Manitoba.
